it's been a long time
you used to stay out
rowdy on the week nights
when you were younger
then the day after day after day came
killed the hunger
when the curtain opens
players take the stage
dance with joy and sorrow
happiness and rage
then you're face flat
swinging on a hard try
down and outside
spent a long time
waiting on the sunshine
now it's alright
when the curtain closes
all of us lay down
with hopes of leaving something
better than we found
